Asim is the Elma Lewis Distinguished Fellow and a Professor and Graduate Program Director of the MFA Program at Emerson College. He is a Guggenheim Fellow and a poet, playwright, and writer, and critic. He was the editor-in-chief of Crisis magazine, the NAACP’s flagship journal of politics, culture, and ideas. He was also an editor at The Washington Post, where he wrote a syndicated column on politics, popular culture, and social issues.
Asim has written eight books for adults, including a book of poetry and his latest novel, Yonder. He has also written thirteen books for children.
